THE FIGHT FOR ART

A film made in connection with the exhibition of the same title. The film and the exhibition deal with, amongst other things, the making of two art collections, one at the Ordrupgaard Museum, north of Copenhagen and the other at Faaborg Museum; their respective patrons William Hansen (1868-1936) and Mads Rasmussen (1856-1916); and their acquisition of work by Funen artists.

THE FUNEN PAINTERS IN ITALY

A film discussing the Funen Painters’ and Danish artists’ fascination with Italy and their journeys there. ‘Al fresco’ painting and the importance of the painters’ tour and the description of their journeys, the film takes the viewer along on various artists’ trips: for example, to the small mountain village Civita d’Antino where Kristian Zahrtmann (1843-1917) sojourned each summer for several years. The film was made in conjunction with the exhibition ‘The Funen Painters in Italy’.
