| Canning factory owner Mads Rasmussen
(1856-1916) established the Faaborg Museum in 1910. The museum
building was opened in 1915. Today the founder is still very
present in his museum because of the works of art which his
artist friends created in honour of their benefactor. |

Mads Rasmussen bought plenty of the Funenites'
pictures for the new museum.
"What must be bought, shall be bought. First
we must see that the museum is as good as possible and afterwards
how we can arrange the financial matters."
